Greek priestess successfully lights first flame in Olympia

Priestesses for the Beijing Olympic torch lighting ceremony successfully lit a flame using a parabolic mirror during a rehearsal on March 20 at the Ancient Olympia site, Xinhuanet reported.
According to the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC), the priestesses began rehearsals in Olympia beginning March 18. But due to inclement weather they were unable to obtain a flame on March 19.
Actresses portraying the High Priestess and other priestesses will continue to have daily rehearsals in which a new flame is lit each day using the same method (and the previous day's flame extinguished) until March 24, when the "mother flame" for the Beijing Olympic Torch is to be lit.
An HOC official has said that the mother flame will be kept safe in two lanterns to prevent accidental extinguishing of the flame. The official added that on the March 30 the flame would be divided between three lanterns: Two will go to BOCOG to bring back to Beijing, and one will remain with the HOC until the flame safely reaches Beijing.
Greek actress Maria Nafpliotou will act as High Priestess at the torch lighting ceremony
